My Eternal TBR
TBR lists are always infinite when it comes to us bookworms, but in terms of books that I own, these are the collection of books that have sat on my TBR for at least four months plus. So let's take a look at what books are on there, and why!
I have two copies of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, both special editions; one huge and one smaller version. It's my favourite Disney film and these have both been gifted by my friends. Although I'm grateful, these are not the top of my TBR list so maybe when I'm in the mood I'll go for it.
Although I loved the first novel in Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, it's no secret that I really struggled with Days of Blood and Starlight so I'm taking a break from the series until I'm more used to high fantasy and her writing style.
The entirety of bookstagram love this book as do a few of my favourite booktubers so when I found this gorgeous used hardback edition, I snapped it up. I've had this since January but then received Caraval by Stephanie Garber in my January Fairyloot which is very similar so I put The Night Circus off in case I got them mixed up. I've also been told it's a character driven novel, whereas I'm more plot-based driven but that's just a silly excuse.
It's also no secret that I didn't enjoy (to put it lightly) Six of Crows, the first installment in this duology. After reading her first series which was okay, I was eager to pick this one up due to the hype, but it fell very short for me. The writing is poor, nothing really happens for ages and I just didn't enjoy it, and because of this I'm putting off reading its sequel until I've forgotten about the book entirely so I can do a reread in the future and enjoy it more.
My only excuse for not having read this when it's been sat on my shelves for over a year is that the series is just so huge now. It's so huge and the books are getting longer and more intimidating so it's really putting me off. I will read this one day though... one day. I've started to read her A Court of Thorns and Roses series (the first book was okay, nothing special), but I really want to get to this one too!
This book was bought for me by my boyfriend after we'd watched the film together and loved it. I really don't have an excuse for this one as as it's a really short and pretty book, but I'm just scared it won't be as good as the film which I really enjoyed. The pictures intimidate me for some reason and I can't put my finger on why as I really like gothic/creepy things. I'll get to this at some point... hopefully.
I bought this after seeing one or two bookstagrammers talking about this a while ago. It was cheap on Wordery so I went for it but I haven't got round to it yet as I'm currently watching The Walking Dead and don't want to get them confused (although there's probably a slim chance of this happening) and because there's like five or six books in this series so I'd just want to binge read them.
To be honest, this is the only book on this entire list where the excuse is valid. I read the first two books of this series The Dark Divine and The Lost Saint like years ago so although I've owned this for about two or three years, I have no idea what's happening in the series. I read this during my post-Twilight phase so that tells you just how long ago it was. In order to read this final installment, I'd have to read the first two books and right now I don't have the energy ⎼⎼ my TBR is long enough as it is!
