What I'm Currently Reading: 24/04/17

I've been struggling this month to get m(any) books read. Either I've been distracted from watching Revenge and now True Blood (both rewatches but amazing TV shows) or in all honestly, feeling a little slumpy and not wanting to find the time to read, despite wanting to read. So I thought I'd kick off another What I'm Currently Reading post as I enjoyed doing that last month when I was struggling to get through some books.

I've literally just started two new books after finishing my only three read books this month and considering we're a week away from May, that's kind of appalling. I've been "currently reading" three to four books this month; one slumpy read, one reread, one audiobook and one book to get myself out the slump! I just started listening to The Diviners by Libba Bray which I've heard is one of the best audiobooks out there but I'm just not getting on with it. It's really hard to follow with abrupt POV changes, the main protagonist is a brat and the storyline thus far is lost on me. I've been "reading" Strange the Dreamer for over three weeks now but it's honestly making me feel so slumpy. It's not as hard to follow as Days of Blood and Starlight that I was struggling with last month, but her writing is just so complex and I guess I'm quite a basic person!

I suppose my actual "currently reading" despite those two books I read on the side when I'm in the mood (so the audio book when I'm in the car, and my slumpy read... never, at the moment). I;m continuing my re-read of The Mortal Instruments series and I've finally reached City of Glass which is the final of the original trilogy (which is still how I view the series as I read the two joined trilogies separately) and the most dramatic. I remember vital parts of this book, but overall I'm excited to experience this book all fresh again, like the first time but knowing some spoilery bits. We've all heard of "ACOTAR" as its acronym suggests (A Court of Thorns and Roses), but I'm one of the last people to jump on the bandwagon. The third installment is released next Tuesday, 2nd May so now is the perfect time to binge read the first two books before then. I was originally hesitant as its sold as a retelling of Beauty and the Beast and I'm not interested in that, however due to all the hype surrounding the second book "ACOMAF" (A Court of Mist and Fury), I caved in and bought them both. I've just started this so not much to report, but the writing is quite basic and to the point, and the narrative is a little, dare I say it, boring as it really pulls on the inspiration from Beauty and the Beast and therefore lends quite predictable. Watch this space!
